The Benefits of Studying the Bible Effectively

For us believers, reading, studying, memorizing, knowing, and meditating upon God’s Word should be our first priority everyday of our live. How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path. Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Why should I read the Bible daily?
#1 To know God better. our first and most important purpose in life should be to know God deeply  and have an intimate fellowship with Him. When you read the Bible, you learn about the person of God. You find out what makes Him tick, what He loves, what He hates, what pleases Him, what angers Him, and what motivated Him to reach out to a lost humanity who had nothing to offer Him in return.
PHILIPPIANS 3:8-10 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ 9 and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.

#2 For wisdom of how to live life better and effectively. If you are trying to decide what kind of computer to buy or what to wear to tomorrow’s big job interview, you probably won’t find anything in the Bible concerning those kinds of decisions. But if you’re looking for solid wisdom when it comes to fixing what is wrong in your life or just making your life better, or when you’re trying to find out how to be a better person, parent, spouse, friend or spiritual leader, then you’ll find it in the pages of the Bible, if you take time to look for it.
#3 For getting Direction. In the military culture, It’s absolutely essential that servicemen and servicewomen learn how to obey the orders of their superiors to the letter. That’s because it’s in heeding those orders that each of them becomes part of an efficient and smooth-running fighting machine. The same thing is true of the Christian life. The bible tells us that when we put our faith in Jesus Christ, we become part of his “body” (1Corinthians 12), meaning that we have a part to play in making sure that body is healthy and growing. In order to effectively play that part, each of us needs to see God’s direction. And one of the most important ways we seek that direction is through diligently reading God’s Word.

Essential: It is important when you are looking for direction from above that you not only look to the Bible but also you pray and ask God to give you the guidance and wisdom to help you apply it to your specific situation. In that situation, pray that God illuminates a passage so that you can apply it.
