You are Made for More

We are made by God to excel  and to live a purposeful and fulfilling life. However,  many times we go around life in a survival mode and feeling like nothing turn out the way we want it. But this is the key: We were not made to live on our own, we were made to have a wonderful relationship with God. The Bible says “All things are possible with God”.  Note that it doesn’t say  all thing are possible for us without God,  instead it says With God.

Many times we wonder why my dreams don’t come true? why I don’t have a good break? And the answer could be that you trying to thrive only with your strength.  Proverbs 16:3 says “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

We all heard about  the story of Adam and Eve and the great Fall into sin. After they ate the fruit from the tree of life and death, then sorrow and death  started.  This story of Adam and Eve is very interesting and teach us so much about the posture of our hearts.

When I read this story my mind is filled with questions like why did they eat the  fruit if God said that they were going to die if they did? What was so appealing about the fruit? Just think about it, they had a beautiful garden just for themselves, they were immortals, had the perfect marriage, had all kind of trees and amazing animals, there was no diseases, had all the food and everything they needed in there.  Everything was perfect and beautiful, So why did they make such a foolish decision of disobeying God? Why did they believe a silly serpent more than God?  To me  it looks like there was something terribly wrong in their hearts:

1.      They didn’t appreciate and value what they had. Does this sound familiar to you? Because all around us we hear the same stories about people making the same mistake. They had the garden of Eden, a wonderful relationship with God but looks like they didn’t care. The Bible doesn’t say why but my suggestion is because so far their experience was perfect and didn’t have any hardship, so they didn’t have an attitude of gratitude. And this is very similar to us today, many times we need to experience hardship before we taste the sweet side of life, So we can value and be thankful for the good things that God give us.

2.      There was  Ego, pride and rebellion in their hearts. They wanted to know everything, good and evil so they didn’t have to depend on God. But  Instead of knowing everything, they destroyed everything with their poor choices.

The Bible says in Genesis 6: 1-6 Now the serpent was more shrewd than any of the wild animals that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Is it really true that God said, ‘You must not eat from any tree of the orchard’?” The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit from the trees of the orchard; but concerning the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the orchard God said, ‘You must not eat from it, and you must not touch it, or else you will die."

The serpent said to the woman, “Surely you will not die, 5 for God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will open and you will be like divine beings who know good and evil. 6 When the woman saw that the tree produced fruit that was good for food, was attractive to the eye, and was desirable for making one wise, she took some of its fruit and ate it. She also gave some of it to her husband who was with her, and he ate it.

I want to suggest that you continue reading the chapter and examine the posture of your heart as you read the story. Ask yourself questions like  Am I trying to live on my own or  am I reaching out to the Creator by putting all my dreams on His hands and seeking His plan for my life? Is there any pride or rebellion in my heart that need to be gone so I can begin living a better life?  Do I have an attitude of gratitude, appreciating all God has given me, or instead I go through life complaining about everything that don’t go my way?

The answers to these questions can help you understand your past a bit more and give you a better picture of the things that you will need to surrender and ask God for help in other to have a better future.  Don’t be discourage, there is the Good news “you are forgiven and redeemed by the blood of Jesus and you can begin a new life today if you just say Yes to Jesus and invite Him in your heart”.

And here is the Key “ you have a choice”,  We cannot change ourselves but you can choose to invite Jesus in your heart and He will transform us.  The Scripture says “anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

If you believe it, I declare that all your dreams come true and that you will begin to live and enjoy this new life that is available for you in Christ Jesus!
