Understanding Temptation

the temptation has been part of spiritual warfare since Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden. Jesus was tempted like we are, yet without sin. God understands our human frailty and left us instructions to understand and overcome temptation.

Jesus came to this world and lay down His life for us, so we can have life in abundance. The enemy will always attack our mind with anxiety, fear and worry, The Scripture says: Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Our secret weapon to win Temptation is the word of God. Study and believe God's promises is essential, so we can overcome the attacks of the enemy. God said, I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” Fight the good fight of faith! You are more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus! God paid a high price for our peace! Refuse to fall into that trap and fight with the Word of God.

Remember that the battle is not yours, but God's, and He has overcome. All we need to do is believe in His promises! He is a faithful God and always will be. Keep in mind that God’s grace is enough for us, Receive it! Seek the peace of God in your heart, and move on.

4 keys to manage temptation

  • Watch and Pray that you do not enter into temptations. The Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41
"The reason why many fail in battle is because they wait until the hour of battle. The reason why others succeed is because they have gained their victory on their knees long before it reached the battle. Anticipate your battle before arrives temptation, and always have the victory "
God's promise about temptation:
But remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from the experience that others are living. But God is faithful, and will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that they can resist. 1 Corinthians 10:13

  • flee the Temptation zone
Have wisdom and stay away from the danger zone. The scriptures says, But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. James 1: 14-15

  • Fight off temptations with the word of God.

So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls. James 1:21

  • Rest in God's grace.
But he gives us more grace. Therefore, He says: God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4: 6-7
We can receive God’s grace through faith and His grace will set me free from all temptation. His Grace, is the net that will hold me if I fall. God wants us to walk courageous and bold knowing his grace sustains us. The enemy does not want me to see God's plan for my life come true, we are a threat to the king of darkness that is why we are all tempted. We must be alert, and pray.
